Cover Supervisor – Secondary School – Basingstoke – January 2026 Start

Are you looking to gain valuable classroom experience within a thriving secondary school setting?
A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Cover Supervisor to join a supportive secondary school in Basingstoke from January 2026.

This position is ideal for graduates, aspiring teachers, unqualified teachers, or experienced support staff who are passionate about education and looking to develop their skills in a classroom environment.

As a Cover Supervisor, you will play a key role in maintaining the continuity of learning across the school. You’ll be responsible for delivering pre-prepared lessons, supervising classes in the absence of the teacher, and ensuring that students remain engaged and focused on their learning throughout the day.

Role responsibilities include:

  • Supervising lessons across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 following set lesson plans
  • Managing classroom behaviour and supporting pupils to stay on task
  • Building positive relationships with students and staff
  • Providing feedback to teaching staff on lesson outcomes
  • Promoting a positive and inclusive learning environment

About you:

  • Confident, organised and adaptable
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Able to engage and motivate students across different subjects
  • Previous experience in a school setting is desirable but not essential
  • A degree or strong academic background is advantageous
