Job description

College Support Assistant 

We are currently recruiting a dedicated College Support Assistant to work in a college setting, supporting learners who have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP). This is a long-term position offering consistent hours and the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on young people’s lives.

Hours:
Tuesday to Friday, 8:50am – 3:30pm

Pay Rate:
£13.75 – £14.50 per hour

The Role:
As a College Support Assistant, you will support learners with a range of special educational needs, helping them to develop independence, confidence, and essential life skills. Support will be delivered in line with PACE – Preparation for Adulthood, Citizenship, and Employment, ensuring learners are equipped for life beyond college.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supporting learners with EHCPs on a one-to-one or small group basis

  • Assisting learners to access the curriculum and engage in college activities

  • Promoting independence, communication, and social skills

  • Supporting Preparation for Adulthood outcomes, including life skills, employability, and community participation

  • Encouraging positive behaviour and emotional regulation in line with college policies

  • Working collaboratively with tutors, therapists, and other support staff

  • Maintaining a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • Experience working with young people or adults with SEN (education or care setting preferred)

  • A patient, adaptable, and supportive approach

  • An understanding of EHCPs and person-centred support

  • A genuine interest in supporting learners to prepare for adulthood and employment

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
