Children's Residential Support Worker

I am working with a Residential SEN school in the Thanet area currently looking for Residential Key Workers on a flexi-bank basis. The school is a creative and unique residential school for children between the ages of 5 and 19. Situated in an area of parkland, the school look to meet the needs of children and young people with autism and severe learning difficulties with associated and behaviours that may challenge.

Position: Residential Key Worker (Flexi-bank Staff)

Hours: Tue/Thurs/Fri 15:30pm - 10pm

Sat/Sun 14:00pm - 10pm and/or 07:30am - 14:00pm

Pay: £9.25 - 11:25 per hour

Person Specification:

  • Ability to follow a work pattern and attend work punctually and reliably
  • Ability to go wherever the young people do and participate and lead indoor and outdoor activities
  • To be able to communicate clearly and easily with young people and others in a variety of ways
  • Ability to form appropriate, professional relationships with young people and others involved in their care

Your Primary Role Will Involve:

  • Working in the residential area providing guidance, support and encouragement to young people in a variety of settings including classroom, education and off site activities
  • Enabling young people to develop by providing physical and emotional support
  • Working as part of a team to maintain a stable, happy and caring environment that puts the health, safety and welfare of the young people first

Qualifications/Experience:

Whilst previous experience within a residential children setting would be beneficial it is not essential. The school provide their own training for all staff working within their provision. All Candidates Must:

  • Be able to commit to working the hours specified above
  • Provide a child only workforce DBS on the update service or willing to pay for a new child only DBS (£44) and then subscribe to the update service (£13)
  • Have no recent criminal convictions/cautions.
  • Have a full original birth certificate, full driving licence and/or valid passport.
  • If you have been a resident for less than 5 years in the UK a right to work visa (non-EU) and a criminal background check from any country resided in for 6 months or more with in the past 5 years must be provided.
