Job Vacancy: School Caretaker – Primary School

Location: Vale of Glamorgan
Contract: Full-time

A friendly and welcoming primary school is looking to appoint a reliable and hardworking Caretaker to help maintain our school site and ensure it is safe, secure, and well presented for pupils, staff, and visitors.

This role is ideal for someone with good practical skills, a positive attitude, and a strong sense of pride in their work.

Key Responsibilities:

• Ensure the school buildings and grounds are clean, tidy, and well maintained

• Carry out minor repairs, maintenance, and decorating as needed

• Oversee site security, including opening and locking up the school

• Monitor and maintain heating, lighting, and alarm systems

• Manage deliveries and liaise with contractors on-site

• Ensure compliance with health and safety procedures

• Support the smooth running of school events and activities

✅ Person Specification:

• Previous experience in a caretaking, maintenance, or facilities role (desirable)

• Basic DIY and repair skills

• Good organisational and time management abilities

• Reliable, proactive, and able to work independently

• A commitment to safeguarding and keeping children safe

• Willingness to work flexible hours when needed (e.g., early mornings, evenings)
