Behaviour Support Assistant- Walthamstow
Do you want to make a difference to lives of children and young people with Social Emotional and Mental Health difficulties and Special Education Needs?
Teaching Personnel are currently working alongside a mainstream school who provide 1:1 support to individuals with ASC disorderto recruit a passionate Support Assistant to work with children and young people with challenging behaviour other learning difficulties, working on a full time basis, to begin after the October half term. As a Learning Support Assistant, you will be working with students from 5-19 in focused classes accompanied by a Teacher and another Support Assistant. You will be working with children and young people who have difficulty in school due to:
- Children in Looked After Care
- Anxiety
- Exclusion
- Speech and language difficulties
- Physical and mental health issues, disabilities and learning difficulties
The candidate must have:
- Some experience working with children and young people who display challenging behaviour
- Experience of de-escalation training would be advantageous
- The school would also consider candidates from youth work backgrounds, or similar roles
- Male TA’s are encouraged to apply as they have male students who require personal care and strong male role models are needed. This being said, females with appropriate experience are also desirable for this role.
This role demands motivation, passion, patience and the ability to emotionally support children who are from vulnerable backgrounds and situations.
