Position: Behavioural Mentor

Sector: Welsh Medium Primary School

Location: Cardiff/Vale of Glamorgan

Start Date: As soon as possible

 

Teaching Personnel are looking for a fluent Welsh speaking Behavioural Mentor to work in the Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan area. Our large network of Primary Schools across these areas has full-time and part-time Teaching Assistant roles available, to support pupils with learning and behavioural difficulties on a one to one and small group basis. As a Behavioural Mentor you will support and nurture the pupil to engage in learning activities within the mainstream classroom, and outside of the classroom such as special resource bases, where needed.

 

You will represent yourself as a positive role model for the pupil, supporting them to appropriately manage their behaviour and emotions, by helping and guiding them to channel these in a healthy and calm manner. You will work with them to help them understand their frustrations, and how to work through/resolve them for a positive outcome, ensuring that they feel cared for and listened to. You will be someone that the pupil can look to for support and advice, as well as someone that they respect. You will ensure that they feel safe, secure, and confident in asking for help and channelling their emotions effectively.

 

Ideal Candidate for this role will be:

Confident with managing challenging behaviour

Understanding towards the issues students might be facing

Enthusiastic and engaging

Able to build rapport with students quickly

Enhanced DBS check (or be willing to apply for one – full assistance provided)

EWC registration (assistance provided)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
