Behaviour Teaching Assistant - Wokingham

Teaching Personnel are fortunate to have fostered a great relationship over the years with one very unique and successful Special Educational Needs school in the Wokingham borough. They regularly come to us with new opportunities for keen and passionate educators. 

This setting is both residential and provides day care during the normal school day. The school caters to both primary and secondary pupils with moderate to severe learning difficulties. The majority of their pupils need extra support in managing their behaviour generally within classes. It is considered a progressive and forward thinking school with a 'celebrating success mind set- the head teacher and staff believe that all students have opportunities to celebrate their own successes in whatever way is individual to them. This approach to their students is at the very core of their values and they are always seeking individuals who share in these.

We have a brand new opportunity for a strong presence and proactive teaching assistant to join the exceptional staff at this school on a full time basis working 1:1 with a year 10 boy who is struggling to manage his behaviour. The post starts after October half term and will be on-going definitely until December and possibly longer term if additional funding gets granted. 

The most suitable person to work in this capacity will;
Exude confidence and act as a clear role model for appropriate behaviour
Find positive ways of tackling behavioural challenges using resilience and genuine care
Step up and take the lead from the class teacher and then use own initiative
Be able to engage and build a good, trusting rapport early on with the identified pupil

This role would be suited to anyone looking to progress their career and widen their experiences within SEN. The school is supportive of our staff and includes them in all internal training and CPD that they hold. For this school and team the personality and character of the applicant is just as important as any previous experience or qualifications held.

Requirements of the role;
Must be able to travel to Wokingham Monday-Thursday 8:30- 3:15 & Friday 8:30 - 14:00
Be open to and committed to a longer term and on-going position
Hold a current DBS registered on the update service
Teaching Assistants pay rate GBP10 per hour (based on a 6.5 hour day)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
