Behaviour support worker
Do you consider yourself to be skilled in managing and deescalating challenging behaviour? Do you have the patience, resilience and a passion to support young children to thrive in school? Do you have experience supporting pupils that can find it difficult to build social & emotional relationships?
With some pupils having spent some time outside of the classroom over the last few years, there is a massive focus on supporting the mental health of pupils who have been impacted by this turbulence. We are currently seeking practitioners to support these pupils on a 1:1 basis for the rest of the academic year, and from the start of the new year, in a range of schools across Bristol (with an option of progressing onto contract with the right school). As a Behaviour Support Worker, you will be involved in not only supporting pupils within the classroom but will also be comfortable with doing activities with the pupil/s outside of the classroom as well. Alongside the class teacher, you will also provide support with ensuring the right support is in place for the pupil.
We can work with you to find a role within a local primary school where you can use these skills to really make a difference! Many of our young people are lacking the support needed in order to be successful in their earlier years. Primary schools provide opportunities to create curious and inspired children through exciting topics of learning, as well as providing a safe space to express their emotions and develop their social skills. This can be achieved with high quality support of an adult to guide them.
Teaching Personnel work with schools across Bristol and surrounding areas to find the right candidates to support their learners whilst helping you find a good fit for your experience. Relevant skills or experience you may have can include (not limited to):
- Personal experience supporting family members with additional learning needs
- Previous work in primary, secondary or SEN schools
- Support worker experience with adults and teenagers, either in care homes or in house living
- Social workers, whether this be for adults or children
- Psychology graduates who have studied behaviour in early childhood
- Sports/dance coaches
- Learning mentors/intervention tutors
If you’re interested in finding out more about our opportunities, give us a call on 0117 239 1215 or email gemma.norman@teachingpersonnel.com with any questions you may have!
