We are currently recruiting for a Behavioural Mentor to join a Specialist Secondary School.

The school provides education for children whose severe Social, Emotional and Mental Health difficulties and Special Educational Needs have led to them not being able to cope in a mainstream setting. Due to an increase in pupil numbers, they are looking for FULL-TIME staff that can start after February Half Term. 

The school is looking for someone who is also open to career development opportunities within the school. Being open to this is beneficial but will be dependant on feedback and you will be supported through this process.

If you have a background in working with people who display challenging behaviour or have additional needs such as  ex-military, police, social services or prison officer etc. and are looking for a career change to support young people and have a direct impact on their development this could be the ideal role for you.

Behaviour Mentors will:

  • Build a positive and genuine relationship with pupils focused on their well-being
  • Be open to supporting challenging behaviours, mental health and social difficulties
  • Be patient and show understanding to students with special educational needs and challenging behaviour
  • Promote positive behaviour and interactions with children/staff
  • Improve each child’s view of him/herself, building on their self-esteem and confidence
  • Provide a secure, stable and caring environment in which every child can grow and develop

You must be:

  • Available Full time, Monday – Friday, 08:30 – 4:00, school term time only
  • Have previous experience working with Challenging Behaviour, mental health or vulnerable children
  • Have school or learning based experience  
  • Enjoy engaging with friendly staff members and inspirational students
  • Willing to make a difference in helping children to achieve their full potential

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later
