Behaviour Support Assistant

Behaviour Support Assistant required for a Wigan based secondary school starting in September.

  • Behaviour Support Assistant- Position starting September 2018
  • 12 month temporary position starting in September, with the potential of securing a permanent position dependent on funding.
  • Supporting individual pupils who display challenging behaviour, in and out of lessons.
  • Working with pupils on a 1-to-1 basis and in small groups to promote positive behaviour in line with school policies.
  • Typical earnings for this role range from £1000-£1200 per month depending on experience.
  • Previous experience working with pupils with additional learning needs or those who display challenging behaviour is desirable.

With an increase in students who have been identified as showing traits of challenging behaviour set to enrol to the school in September the Intervention manager has been tasked with recruiting a number of Behaviour Support Assistants to join the school in September. You will be employed by the school for 12 months in the first instance and there will be an opportunity to earn a permanent contract beyond this period based on your time in school and if the school receives the necessary funding.

The Intervention Manager at our client secondary school is looking to appoint a Behaviour Support Assistant who is able to have a positive effect on students who may otherwise struggle to engage during class. It is important that you are able to build good relationships with the students you work alongside and will look to make a real difference on their daily school life, helping them to push the boundaries on what they can achieve during their time in school.

The students you will be responsible for have been identified as students who may lose focus easily and have a negative effect on their peers in class. It will be your job to reduce cases of low level disruption during the lesson and it is integral that you have a 'firm but fair' approach when dealing with challenging behaviour.

The school have recently appointed a new Leadership Team and are now run by two National Leaders of Education who have taken the responsibility of recruitment of new staff amongst many other tasks.

Our client Secondary school is smaller than average Secondary school and currently has around 680 students on roll. Located in the centre of Wigan, the school has an abundance of public transport links from the surrounding areas. If commuting by car then the school has onsite car parking and is just minutes away from the A58.

For immediate consideration please send an updated CV to Zack via the link below or contact the Manchester Secondary Branch for further information on the number below;
