Behaviour Support Assistant

A central Manchester secondary school is looking for a Behaviour Support Assistant with experience working closely with students or has a desire to make an impact on student's behaviour. Initially the school are looking to appoint on a temporary basis, but this role could be extended for the correct candidate. You will be working very closely with Year 7 & 8 students and supporting students from disadvantaged backgrounds. You will need to be confident with supporting students with behavioural issues and be an ideal role model working with male and female students in this mixed secondary school.

The Behaviour Support Assistant is required for a full time basis for one full term working from January 2019 to April, with the potential to extend to the end of the academic year. The school is looking for a passionate behaviour support assistant with a good understanding on how to manage behaviour. You will be responsible for supporting the behaviour, learning and progress of the individual students who will be identified by the school SENCO.

As the secondary school is situated in central Manchester, the local tram services can be easily accessed with the local bus and train also servicing to the school on a regular basis. There is also an on site car park for staff. The school has highly engaging students and have a variety of students with EAL. You will need to support the EAL students as well as other students with MLD and ADHD. You will be working with small groups of students in inclusion centre, working with the school SENCO. As a behavioural support assistant you will be required to follow the students on a 1-1 basis, working alongside certain individual student's timetable to monitor and assist their behaviour in classrooms.

The school are looking for a candidate who has experiences in a similar setting and are willing be resilient and emphatic with the students. To work in this environment, you must have excellent Behaviour Management skills and have the patience to support young people from challenging backgrounds. The position is to mentor the young individuals, guiding them with their behaviour and learning.
