Job Title: Behaviour Mentor
Location: Great Barr, Birmingham
Job Type: Full-time- 37 hours per week, Monday-Friday
Job Summary
The Behaviour Coordinator is responsible for designing, implementing, and monitoring behavior management programs to support positive student behavior and social-emotional growth. The coordinator will work closely with teachers, administrators, students, and parents to create a safe and supportive learning environment that promotes academic and social success.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement comprehensive behavior management strategies and programs.
- Create and maintain individual behavior intervention plans (BIPs) for students requiring additional support.
- Collaborate with teachers and staff to integrate behavior management practices into daily routines.
Student Support
- Conduct assessments to identify students' behavioral needs.
- Provide direct support and intervention to students exhibiting challenging behaviors.
- Facilitate small group or one-on-one sessions focused on social skills, conflict resolution, and emotional regulation.
Staff Training and Support
- Train teachers and staff on behavior management techniques and intervention strategies.
- Offer ongoing coaching and support to staff to ensure effective implementation of behavior plans.
- Assist in developing and delivering professional development workshops related to behavior management and social-emotional learning (SEL).
Data Collection and Analysis
- Monitor and document student behavior and progress.
- Use data to assess the effectiveness of behavior interventions and modify plans as needed.
- Prepare reports on student progress and program effectiveness for review by administration and other stakeholders.
Collaboration and Communication
- Work with parents/guardians to address behavioral concerns and develop home-school behavior plans.
- Serve as a liaison between students, parents, teachers, and external agencies to coordinate support services.
- Participate in meetings, including IEP and 504 plan meetings, to provide input on behavioral goals and strategies.
Crisis Management
- Respond to behavioral crises and implement de-escalation strategies.
- Provide guidance and support during incidents requiring immediate behavioral intervention.
- Develop and train staff on emergency behavior intervention procedures.
Qualifications, Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in psychology, education, social work, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- Certification or training in behavior management, Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), or Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) is highly desirable.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience working in a similar role, preferably in an educational setting.

- Strong understanding of behavior management theories and practices.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse student populations.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Proficient in data collection and analysis.
- Ability to remain calm and effective in high-stress situations.
- Collaborative and team-oriented mindset.
Requirements:
- Must have a DBS on the update service or willing to apply for one
- Must have residency in the UK for a minimum of 6 months
- Must have a minimum grade 4 in Maths and English
- Have an overseas criminal clearance if you have been away 6 months+
- Please ensure you have reference available upon request covering the last 24 months

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
