Job description

 Behaviour Mentor– Smethwick 

We are looking for a calm, confident, and dedicated Behaviour Mentor to join a partner secondary school in the Smethwick area. This is a rewarding role supporting students in managing their behaviour, improving engagement and developing positive strategies for success both in and out of the clasroom.

Key Details:

  • Position: Behaviour Mentor

  • Location: Smethwick and surrounding areas

  • Contract Type: Full-time or Part-time (flexible)

  • Salary: Competitive, based on experience and responsibilities

 

Role Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with students to support positive behaviour and resolve conflicts

  • Implement strategies to de-escalate challenging situations and promote a calm learning environment

  • Mentor and guide students to develop social, emotional, and behavioural skills

  • Liaise with teachers, parents, and other support staff to monitor progress and share information

  • Maintain detailed records of interventions and behaviour plans

  • Support students in managing their emotions and making positive choices

 

Role Requirements:

  • Experience working with secondary school-aged students in behaviour support or mentoring roles

  • Calm, confident, and patient approach to managing challenging behaviours

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to remain composed under pressure and use de-escalation techniques effectively

  • De-escalation training is beneficial but not essential

  • Understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures

  • Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to obtain one)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
