SEMH Behaviour Support

Location: Bury, Greater Manchester
Contract: Full-time
Start Date: Immediate and January 2026

Are you passionate about supporting young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs? Do you have the resilience and commitment to make a positive impact in a challenging yet rewarding environment? If so, this might be the opportunity for you. You will play a vital role in supporting young people who have challenging behaviour, Anxiety based School avoidance, ADHD and Autism and help them in achieving their academic goals.

The Role

We are working with a specialist school in Bury that caters for pupils with SEMH and associated needs. As a Behaviour Support Assistant, you will:

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support to pupils with SEMH.
  • Implement Behaviour management strategies and de-escalation techniques.
  • Work closely with teachers and the pastoral team to create a safe, supportive learning environment.
  • Help pupils develop social skills, emotional regulation, and confidence.

Requirements

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEMH or challenging behaviour.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and use positive behaviour strategies.
  • Team player with a proactive approach.
  • An enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to obtain one.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
