A partnership school in the Blaenau Gwent is looking for a full-time Teaching Assistant to work 1:1 with a male who struggles with their behaviour and had learning difficulties. The schools have been given funding to set up an alternative provision for 10-12 pupils to help regulate their behaviour and help with their engagement compared to the mainstream setting. There will be a healthy ratio of support staff to pupils who will be supporting the rest of the pupils in the class.
The pupil you will be supporting will be the only pupil in the new provision who has a statement of special educational needs and the school have emphasised the needs for consistency after a turbulent school year so far. You must be able to form a positive relationship and influence the pupil’s behaviour in a constructive way. As this unit has several long-term objectives, you will be a key member in ensuring that the pupils are able to gain a sense of routine and continuity.
This school in Blaenau Gwent has 1,217 pupils on their roll and the schools receives pupils from the full ability range. The percentage of pupils with SEN is around 21%. The percentage of pupils who have a statement of SEN is 4%. The school has a learning resource for pupils with complex needs attached to the school and these pupils are included with the school roll.

- Have at least C-grade in GCSE Maths and English or equivalent

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
