Behavioural Mentor (Special Educational Needs)

Location: Birkenhead
Salary: £90 - £110
Contract: Full-time, Permanent
Start Date: Immediately


About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Behavioural Expert to join our dynamic team at an Alternative Provision school that supports pupils with a range of complex needs and especially challenging behaviours.
This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of children and young people who require tailored behavioural strategies and interventions.


Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement individualised behaviour support plans for students with challenging behaviours.
  • Work closely with teachers, support staff, and external professionals to ensure a consistent and positive approach to behaviour management.
  • Provide training and guidance to staff on effective behaviour strategies and de-escalation techniques.
  • Monitor and review behavioural progress, adapting strategies as needed.
  • Promote a safe, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment for all pupils.

Requirements

  • Proven experience working with children or young people with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and challenging behaviours.
  • Strong understanding of positive behaviour support and evidence-based interventions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and manage complex situations effectively.
  • Relevant qualifications in psychology, behaviour analysis, or SEN education (desirable).
  • Team Teach (Desirable)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
