Behaviour Specialist for Cardiff PRU
Job description
This vacancy has now expired. Please see similar roles below...
Teaching Personnel on behalf of one our Pupil Referral Units in Cardiff have been asked to work alongside their current recruitment process in order to appoint support staffs who have experience working with challenging behaviour. Within this specialist provision you will be supporting and differentiating the learning for young people who have a diagnosis of Emotional, Behavioural Difficulties (EBD) some of which have a specific diagnosis of Mental Health.
The ideal applicant will have prior experience working with young people, this does not have to be in a classroom as transferable skills are often a perfect solution. You will have ability to support teenagers with EBD;. A valid qualification in 'Team Teach' or other similar 'manual handling' training would be beneficial but not essential. Teaching Personnel run these courses throughout the year and can ensure you are enrolled at your earliest convenience.
Teaching Personnel also recruit candidates who have undertaken youth work, supported young offenders or those at risk of re-offending . You must have the ability to build a rapport with a non-judgemental attitude and be passionate about improving the lives of young people.
The classes will be smaller than mainstream classes and you'll have the support of several TA's so you will have a really strong opportunity to positively change a child's life. The ideal candidate will be willing to work on a supply basis initially whilst we seek a longer term opportunity for you. The school are known to appoint candidates on a longer term basis. However, longer term opportunities usually arise quickly for those candidates who show initiative, are proactive and receive positive feedback from their supply assignments.
To be considered for this role please send across a CV today and I will be in touch for an informal chat about how we can progress your application.
All applicants will require the appropriate qualification and training for this role. For teacher roles, we require a formally recognised teaching qualification. For Support staff our minimum requirement is GCSE English & Maths (A-C) or equivalent.
Teaching Personnel is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. All candidates must undertake or have undertaken a valid enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. Full assistance provided.
