Behaviour mentor and SEN teaching assistant - Feltham - January start - full time
Are you experienced working with students with challenging behaviour? Have you worked with students with special educational needs? Looking to gain experience working with a number of different students?
At Teaching Personnel we are currently recruiting for a full time behaviour mentor and SEN teaching assistant within a school based in Feltham.
The role?
The full time role will involve working within their year 3 and 4 classes, providing support to a student with special educational needs - a combination of autism and challenging behaviour. Alongside this you will provide one to one behaviour support to a student within their year 4 class. Your day will be split across the two classes, providing support within their year 3 setting in the morning and year 4 in the afternoon. You will need to be flexible to the students needs, working alongside the class teacher to provide tailored support around their needs.
As part of a specialist role you will be working with the class teacher to plan and prepare activities for the students you will be supporting. The hours will primarily be 8:30 to 4pm, accounting for preparation and feedback time with the class teacher.
The school?
As a large four form entry school they are looking for a strong teaching assistant to get stuck in to their school community. It will involve working closely with the deputy head and other members of SLT to provide a high quality of care to all students. Within the past year they have seen the school undergo changes internally and structurally, seeing the amulgamation of the schools. With a new school dynamic and setting they have focused on creating a close knit school setting that was carried between both junior and infant schools. With a new school building they have advanced resources for all students, including a new building and sports facilities.
The school is located in Feltham, Hounslow - connected by multiple train and bus services. It is located a 15 minute walk from Feltham station.
Ideal candidate?
- Experienced supporting students with challenging behaviour
- Able to produce lesson activities and daily plans to ensure development with particular students
- Confident dealing with students with special educational needs, primarily autism
- Flexible to work across different classes and accomodate to the daily changes with the students
