Behaviour Mentor – Secondary School – Tameside

Location:Ashton-under-Lyne, Tameside
Start Date:Immediate or September 2025
Salary: £89 - £100 per day (dependent on experience)
Contract Type:Full-time, Monday to Friday, term-time only

About the Role:
A secondary school in Tameside is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Behaviour Mentorto join their pastoral team. The successful candidate will work closely with pupils identified as requiring additional emotional and behavioural support, helping them to succeed in both academic and social settings.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 mentoring and small group sessions for pupils with behavioural challenges or social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs

  • Implement behaviour management strategies in line with school policy

  • Support students inside and outside the classroom to help them remain engaged and focused

  • Help develop personalised behaviour support plans and monitor progress

  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff, pastoral leads and SEN departments

  • Provide daily updates on student behaviour and progress to the pastoral team and parents where required

Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • Experience in a similar support role, such as youth work, pastoral support, residential care or behaviour mentoring

  • An understanding of SEMH and the challenges students may face

  • Resilience, empathy, patience and the ability to remain calm under pressure

  • A genuine passion for working with young people and improving outcomes

  • Team Teach or other de-escalation training (beneficial but not essential – training can be provided)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
