Behaviour Lead – Wembley, Greater London
Salary: £35,000–£45,000 (pro rata £30,692–£39,462)
Hours: Full-time, 37.5 hours per week, term‑time only (39 weeks)
Reports to: Head Teacher
About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated Behaviour Lead to shape and lead whole‑school behaviour practice for children with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. This is a key role within our small, nurturing school, offering the opportunity to develop behaviour systems rooted in our therapeutic ethos and create a consistent, supportive experience for pupils and staff.
You will model strong in‑class practice, support colleagues, guide behaviour strategy across the school, and help ensure every child feels safe, supported and able to thrive.
Key Responsibilities
Lead Behaviour Strategy
- Develop, implement and review whole‑school behaviour systems aligned with a therapeutic approach.
- Ensure consistent application of behaviour policies.
- Support behaviour monitoring, reporting and risk assessment processes.
Operational Behaviour Support
- Model effective behaviour management in classrooms.
- Review and update pupil support plans and RAMPs.
- Build positive relationships with pupils, families and staff.
Safe Holding (PRICE) Leadership
- Deliver PRICE training and induction for new staff.
- Support restorative conversations and staff/pupil wellbeing after incidents.
Staff Support & Development
- Provide behaviour and de‑escalation training.
- Lead behaviour-focused reflections in team meetings.
- Support recruitment by evaluating candidates' behaviour management skills.

About You
You believe deeply in the potential of children with SEMH needs and bring empathy, consistency and resilience to every interaction. You stay calm under pressure, enjoy working collaboratively, and are committed to safeguarding and inclusive practice.
We’re looking for:
- Good level of education, including GCSE English and Maths
- Strong experience in behaviour management, de‑escalation and specialist SEMH/SEND support
- Experience supporting vulnerable primary-aged pupils with complex needs
- Proven ability to implement and evaluate behaviour systems
- Experience mentoring or training staff
- Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills
- Strong IT and record‑keeping abilities
- Confidence in managing emotionally demanding situations and following risk assessments
Desirable:
- Relevant degree or SEN-related qualifications/CPD
- Qualified Teacher Status
You will be working with pupils who may display challenging behaviour linked to trauma and SEMH needs, and you must feel confident using de-escalation and physical intervention techniques where appropriate.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
