Autism Support Assistant
Teaching Personnel are working with a mainstream primary school in Todmorden, who are hoping to recruit a full time 1:1 SEN Support Assistant; to work with a pupil with Autism. The role is set to start upon the reopening of schools in February 2021 and will run on an ongoing basis, the child you will be supporting is in Year 4. The pupil is working below age related expectations and requires additional support to access the national curriculum. The ideal candidate will have previous experience working with children with Autism and challenging behaviour, and will have experience leading intervention and de-escalating difficult situations.
The role:
- February 2021 start
- Primary School – Year 4
- Full-time (Monday – Friday)
- GBP10 - GBP12.50 per hour
Key responsibilities and requirements of the role will include:
- Supporting a pupil with Autism on a 1:1 basis, in order to support their academic and social development.
- Working with the class teacher, SLT and SENCO to provide provision of the highest possible standard.
- Demonstrate a patient and nurturing approach.
- Effectively deescalate situations.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
