Location: Kirkby (L32)

Contract: Temporary (with the potential for permanent)

Start Date: October 2025

Pay Rate: £13.75 - £14.50 per hour (depending on experience)

 

Teaching Personnel are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Autism Specialist Teaching Assistant to work on a 1:1 basis with a pupil in a vibrant and welcoming primary school in Kirkby (L32). This full-time role is initially offered on a temporary basis, with strong potential to become a permanent position for the right candidate.

Job Description:

As a 1:1 Autism Specialist TA, you will work closely with a pupil in the classroom setting, providing tailored support to help them access the curriculum, develop social and communication skills, and manage sensory or behavioural needs. You will collaborate with the class teacher, SENCO, and external professionals to implement individual education plans (IEPs) and deliver consistent, child-centred support throughout the school day.

 

The Ideal Candidate Will:

  • Have experience supporting children with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ideally in an educational setting
  • Demonstrate empathy, patience, and a nurturing approach
  • Be confident implementing strategies to support emotional regulation and engagement
  • Possess strong communication skills to liaise with staff, parents/carers, and external agencies
  • Be adaptable, resilient, and able to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Hold a relevant TA qualification (desirable but not essential)
  • Have a DBS on the Update Service or be willing to apply for one through Teaching Personnel
