Autism Specialist

Hours: 25 hours per week term time (39 weeks per year)

Salary: GBP2000-3875 per month

Start Date: Monday 4th of January 2020

Location: Long Eaton

An Autism specialist tutor is required to work 1:1 with a KS2 student with challenging and aggressive behaviour. The student uses PECS to communicate, and so the tutor would be expected to have at least a basic understanding of PECS.


This post is suitable for an experienced or newly qualified teachers looking to gain more experience working with a primary aged child with Autism.

Main Duties will include:

  • Teaching cross curricular subjects, including Literacy and Numeracy
  • Working with child with Autism on their social and life skills.
  • Assessment of pupils both informally and formally, to reach an understanding of the students’ needs and set goals accordingly.
  • Planning and delivering various therapeutic approaches according to a student’s needs.
  • Working closely alongside the local authority

To undertake this position successfully you will have:

  • PGCE (or equivalent) with QTS
  • Experience working with children with Autism
  • A valid Childs Workforce DBS (or be willing to acquire one)
  • Right to Work in the UK

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
