Assistant Head of Mathematics - Secondary School Bolton - September Start
We are currently seeking enthusiastic and dedicated individual for an Assistant Head of Mathematics position to join a Mathematics department at a Secondary School in Bolton.
We welcome applications from both experienced teachers and ambitious early career teachers.
Position: Assistant Head of Mathematics
Department: Mathematics
Education Stage: Secondary (Key Stage 3 & 4)
Minimum Experience: Experience as a Second of Department
Salary: MPS/UPS
Start Date: September 2026
As a Teacher of Mathematics, you will be responsible for delivering engaging lessons that inspire students at Key Stage 3 & 4. You will contribute to the development and progress of pupils’ mathematical skills while supporting their overall academic growth.
The Assistant Head of Mathematics will have additional leadership responsibilities within the department, assisting with curriculum planning, staff support, and driving improvements in teaching standards across Key Stage 4.
Skills and Qualifications:
- A strong understanding of mathematics suitable for teaching at Key Stage 4.
- Qualified teacher status or working towards QTS.
- Excellent communication skills with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Ability to plan effective lessons that meet diverse learning needs.
- Willingness to engage in continuous professional development.
- For the Assistant Head role: Demonstrated leadership potential or experience is desirable but not essential.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
