TA required to work with students in a specialist Autism provision

  • Are you dedicated to supporting children with additional needs reach their potential?
  • Do you have the imagination and enthusiasm to ensure pupil's success?
  • Do you have prior experience supporting students with Autism?

Teaching personnel are currently looking to TA’s to fulfil a position within an Autism provision attached to a special educational needs school in Slough. The provision caters for students aged 2-19 years old with a statement of special educational needs indicating Autism and associated learning difficulties. Many of the students have specific sensory, behavioural, medical, or social, emotional and mental health difficulties.

The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting all children in accessing aspects of the curriculum and ensuring social interaction and engagement of all. You will be required to liaise with the class teacher and other appropriate members of staff to ensure pupil’s anxieties are managed and their individual learning and behaviour needs are met. Someone with previous experience in a similar setting would be ideal but we would be willing to consider applicants who show a good understanding of the high levels of support required for the students. Previous training and qualifications relevant to the post, (eg. Team Teach, Autism Awareness, Psychology Degree, NVQ in Health and Social care) would also be beneficial for this role.
