Job description

Position: ADHD Support Mentor
Contract: Full-time / Part-time (Flexible)
Location: Lancaster
Start Date: 5th January

We are looking for a dedicated, patient, and proactive ADHD Support Mentor to join our team. In this rewarding role, you will provide tailored support to children and young people with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), helping them build confidence, regulate emotions, and succeed both academically and socially.

 

What will I be doing?

  • Provide 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with ADHD.
  • Use strategies to help pupils with focus, organisation, emotional regulation, and behaviour management.
  • Assist pupils in accessing the curriculum, breaking down tasks, and maintaining engagement.
  • Build strong, trusting relationships through consistency, empathy, and positive reinforcement.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals to put personalised support plans into action.
  • Monitor and record progress, challenges, and observations to support ongoing development.
  • Promote resilience, independence, and self-esteem in all pupils you support.

 

What do I need? 

  • Is understanding, patient, and enthusiastic about supporting young people with ADHD.
  • Can remain calm, consistent, and positive in challenging situations.
  • Has excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Is proactive, adaptable, and able to use initiative.
  • Has previous experience in education, youth work, care, or mentoring (desirable but not essential).
  • Is committed to helping young people reach their full potential.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
