Support Assistant for Child with ADHD
Position: ADHD Support Assistant
Location: Waterloo (L22)
Start Date: October 2024
Contract Type: Temporary (Maternity Leave Cover)
Hours: Full-Time
Salary: £12.90 per hour
Teaching Personnel is currently seeking a compassionate and experienced Support Assistant to join our team and provide one-on-one support for a child with ADHD. This position is to cover a maternity leave beginning in October.
Job Description: As a Support Assistant, you will play a crucial role in the daily care and development of a child with ADHD. Your responsibilities will include:
- Assisting with classroom activities and ensuring the child remains engaged and focused.
- Implementing strategies to help manage ADHD symptoms.
- Supporting the child in developing social skills and positive behaviours.
- Collaborating with teachers, therapists, and parents to ensure a cohesive support plan.
- Monitoring and recording the child’s progress and any challenges faced.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide personalised support tailored to the child's individual needs.
- Help with organisation and completion of schoolwork and assignments.
- Encourage positive interactions with peers.
- Utilise behaviour management techniques to maintain a supportive learning environment.
- Assist with any additional needs, such as transitioning between activities and coping with sensory sensitivities.
Qualifications:
- Experience working with children, preferably those with ADHD or other special needs.
- Understanding of ADHD and effective management strategies.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
- Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude.
- Relevant qualifications or training in child development, special education, or related fields are desirable.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
