Additional Learning Needs Teacher Vacancy

Teaching Personnel are looking for Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teachers to work within Special Needs Schools within the Cardiff area. You will be required to work with pupils who are physically disabled, pupils who are on the autism spectrum, have behavioural or mental difficulties as well as emotional behaviour, speech and language difficulties and pupils who are Visually Impaired (VI) and Hearing Impaired (HI) as well as dyslexia.

Duties may also include the following:

• Marking and evaluating work
• Promoting learning outside the classroom for example school trips or sports events
• Help with the medical needs and personal care for severely disabled pupils
• Work with colleagues within the school to define and determine appropriate activities or pupils in relation to the curriculum
• Using specialist techniques such as braille, sign language and audio visual equipment
• Record pupils progress and maintaining administrative paperwork
• Keep up to date with changes in the curriculum
• Maintaining health and safety standards at all times

You will be required to teach pupils in small groups which could be within the classroom or outside the classroom on more of a 1:1 basis. Within the teacher role you will also need to prepare the lessons and resources by developing and adapting traditional teaching methods to meet the needs of the pupils that you will be teaching. You may also be required to work with other professionals, such as speech and language therapists and educational psychologists, as well liaising with parents and carers.

The ideal candidate should be extremely motivated, calm, use their initiative and have excellent behaviour skills.

The positions we require cover for range from long term sickness or maternity cover to short term day to day cover.

All applicants will require the appropriate qualification and training for this role. For teacher roles, we require a formally recognised teaching qualification. For Support staff our minimum requirement is GCSE English & Maths (A-C) or equivalent.
