Following the success of our first webinar, we are holding another panel discussion with Bex Howe (Director of Primary Education at The Shared Learning Trust), Matt Coleman (Director of Primary Education at Nene Education Trust), and Sean McClafferty (CEO of St Ralph Sherwin Catholic Multi Academy Trust) to answer some more of the questions presented from school leaders.
Discussing lessons learnt as education leaders throughout the COVID pandemic, sharing successes and challenges faced alongside the key priorities for this Academic Year, and ideas on how to effectively lead your school through this uncertain time. Also discussing effective use of Catch - Up funding to support the key priorities.

Matt Coleman
Director of Primary Education, Nene Education Trust
Matt is a Director of Primary Education, for a multi academy trust in Northamptonshire. Matt has worked in the education sector for 12 years – 3 years as a Deputy Headteacher and 5 successful years as Headteacher, before moving into this more senior role. He has worked across the whole of Northamptonshire in the primary-age phase. Matt is also the Education Lead for the NSBA (Northamptonshire Schools & Business Alliance) and feels that it is crucial that our sector links up with the commercial world more and more. He is also a director (soon to be chairman) of Spautism CIC https://spautism.com/.
Bex Howe
Director of Primary Education, The Shared Learning Trust
Bex has been working in education for 29 years. After beginning life as a secondary music teacher, Bex has been a senior leader across all education phases (Nursery to Sixth form) and remains passionate about making a difference to children’s lives and those who work with them. Bex’s roles have included: Director of Performing and Visual Arts, Head of Sixth Form, Vice Principal for attainment, SENDCO, Governor and Principal of school. As Director of Primary Education and a Local Leader of Education Bex currently works with over 2000 children and 800 staff.
Sean McClafferty
CEO, St Ralph Sherwin Catholic Multi Academy Trust
Prior to becoming the first CEO of the new St Ralph Sherwin Catholic Multi Academy Trust on 1st September 2018, Sean worked for 18 years in senior leadership roles in 4 different schools including being headteacher for 10 years in two Catholic schools; St Mary’s Catholic High school, Chesterfield and Trinity Catholic school, Nottingham. Sean has a successful track record of working in both outstanding schools as well as schools facing challenging circumstances. His experience lies in improving leadership and management, impacting on teaching and learning and, as a consequence, raising standards. With experience as an Executive Headteacher; serving on an Interim Executive Board; being a Lead Diocesan Canonical Inspector within the Diocese of Nottingham (and previously in the Diocese of Hallam) as well as being an accredited Pupil Premium reviewer; National Leader in Education and Ofsted Inspector, Sean brings a wealth of knowledge and skills to his current CEO role.
