Youth Worker /Teaching Assistant - Leyton

We are looking for a confident youth worker teaching assistant to support in a behaviour special school in Leyton which caters to secondary pupils who have behaviour, emotional or complex mental health needs. You will be supporting a small group of 7 young people, many of whom are on some form of medication for ADHD or mental health issues, they push boundaries and can display extremely challenging behaviours. You will need to have previous experience supporting with behavioural needs, be incredibly patient, calm and be able to be consistent with pupils in providing instructions and following through with sanctions and rewards. This is a great school to work in with skilled individuals who work cohesively to provide a stimulating learning environment for their pupils and a supportive head teacher who cares for the well being of his staff. For the successful candidate this role is full time for an immediate start, there is the potential to secure a permanent contract as long as you are not phased by their environment!

Youth Worker Teaching Assistant Job specification:

  • Must have previous experience and good understanding supporting with behavioural needs
  • Able to work with challenging secondary students
  • Can provide both 1:1 and group support as needed for pupils needs
  • Good behaviour management strategies
  • Personality profile : need to be very resilient , patient and calm
  • Must be available for an immediate start for Monday to Friday 8.30am -3.30 during school term time until end of academic year
