Youth Worker Required for Secondary Provision in Bury

Date posted : 18/09/18
£9 - £10 per hour

Job description

This vacancy has now expired. Please see similar roles below...

Do you have experience in working with young people who would be seen as challenging or supporting young people through a difficult time in their lives?

Are you a youth worker looking to gain experience within an educational setting?

Teaching Personnel are working very closely with a Bury Secondary Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) who requires an experienced Youth worker to assist in engaging pupils within the classroom and those who are deemed at risk of exclusion.

Pupils within this school range between the ages of 11-16 and have all been permanently excluded from their mainstream school. Some pupils will be attending this school on a short stay basis with a restorative approach in the hope that they will eventually be able to be successfully reintegrated back into mainstream.

The Youth worker will be required to support pupils with their academic studies within the classroom as a 1:1 or general classroom support. The Youth Worker may also be required to support pupils outside the classroom if they are struggling to engage. The school has 'safe spaces' that are designed to help regulate pupils who have reached the point of crisis, support may be needed when in this space.

This position is due to start in October on a rolling contract until the end of the academic year. Ideally the Youth worker will have a DBS on the update service to allow for a quick turn around, however Teaching Personnel can assist with the application if necessary.

If you would like to be considered for this position, please email and up-to-date CV to James Johnson.
