General Teaching Assistant – Year 3

Location: Dorchester | Start Date: ASAP | Full-Time/Part-Time Opportunities

Are you a passionate and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant looking for your next opportunity within a primary school?

We are currently looking for a General Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Dorchester, supporting pupils within a Year 3 classroom. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is committed to helping children thrive and enjoys working as part of a supportive school team.

The Role

As a General Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Support the class teacher with the delivery of engaging lessons
  • Provide one-to-one and small-group support where required
  • Help pupils remain focused, motivated and engaged with their learning
  • Assist with classroom preparation and organisation
  • Support pupils with their academic, social and emotional development
  • Encourage positive behaviour and maintain a safe, inclusive learning environment
  • Work collaboratively with teachers and wider school staff
  • Contribute positively to the wider life of the school

About You

The successful candidate will ideally have:

  • Previous experience working with children, ideally within a primary school setting
  • A genuine passion for supporting children's learning and development
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • A patient, caring and nurturing approach
  • The ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff
  • A proactive and flexible attitude
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a team

Experience as a Teaching Assistant is desirable, but we also welcome applications from candidates with relevant childcare, education, youth work or transferable experience.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
