Year 2 Primary Teacher Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver creative, high‑quality lessons aligned with the KS1 National Curriculum (Year 2).
  • Teach core subjects including English, Maths, and Science, supporting pupils in developing secure foundational skills.
  • Use assessment data to track progress and prepare pupils for KS1 statutory assessments (including SATs).
  • Differentiate lessons to support a diverse range of learners, including SEND, EAL, and SEMH.
  • Work collaboratively with the SENCO, teaching assistants, and senior leaders to ensure every child thrives.
  • Build strong, positive relationships with parents and carers, keeping them informed of progress and wellbeing.
  • Maintain accurate records, reports, and assessment documentation.
  • Take an active role in school life by contributing to initiatives, staff meetings, and enrichment activities.

Year 2 Primary Teacher Requirements:

  • A recognised teaching qualification with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
  • Strong knowledge of KS1 teaching strategies, assessment frameworks, and curriculum expectations.
  • A commitment to delivering inclusive, high‑quality teaching that supports every learner.
  • A solid understanding of safeguarding, child protection, and inclusive practice.
  • Ability to create a motivating, positive classroom environment that encourages progress and independence.
  • Professionalism, reliability, and commitment to upholding Teachers’ Standards.
