One of our Local Authority clients are looking for a Tutor to work with a young person in Year 10 within the Newark area (NG24).

The pupil has an EHCP in place  with a diagnosis of ADHD and ASC. He also presents with Attachment Disorder and Social, Emotional and Mental Health DIfficulties.

The child can present with some verbal and physical aggression, in addition to some sexualised and racist tendencies. Therefore, we require someone who is resilient and will be able to build a positive relationship with this young person. He is in a residential home and requires up to 25 hours of education per week, within the residential home environment.

The ideal candidate for this role will be:

  • Fully Qualified or FE Teacher
  • Experienced and has an understanding of Attachment Disorder, Autism and ADHD - and how this can impact a child's behaviour and mental wellbeing
  • Confident to utilise online platforms such as Bramble
  • Able to deliver English and Maths in addition to cross curricular subjects at KS4 level
  • Confident to deal with challenging behaviour as appropriate, using a nurturing and supportive approach at all times
  • Able to complete a weekly feedback form which shows the engagement and any areas of development for the young person
  • Professional and able to liaise with multi-disciplinary teams including Local Authority staff, social workers and residential staff
  • Willing to get involved in PEP meetings where required

The student requires a tutor who is dedicated and committed to their education; therefore we are not looking for anyone who is only available on a short term basis. This role is due to start ASAP and will run until a new school place has been found. Therefore we will require someone committed to this student and available both now and in January for work, with a view to possibly transitioning this student into a new school next year.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
