1:1 Tutor (Home & School-Based) – Wellingborough Area

Location: Wellingborough and surrounding areas, Northamptonshire
Hours: School hours (typically 9:00am – 3:30pm)
Contract Type: Flexible, Part-Time and Full-Time Opportunities Available

About the Role

We are seeking experienced and dedicated 1:1 Tutors to support pupils in their homes and school settings across Wellingborough and the surrounding areas.

This rewarding role involves working with children and young people who may be unable to access mainstream education due to Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, medical conditions, school avoidance, exclusion, or other barriers to learning. Tutors will provide personalised educational support to help pupils achieve their academic goals and build confidence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging and effective one-to-one tuition sessions tailored to individual pupil needs.
  • Plan, prepare, and adapt lessons in line with the National Curriculum and pupil learning objectives.
  • Support pupils in core subjects, including English, Maths, and Science.
  • Build positive relationships with pupils, families, schools, and other professionals.
  • Monitor, assess, and record pupil progress accurately.
  • Promote pupil confidence, engagement, and independence in learning.
  • Maintain high standards of safeguarding and professional conduct at all times.

Essential Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years' teaching or tutoring experience.
  • Strong understanding of the UK National Curriculum.
  • Experience supporting pupils with SEND, SEMH, or additional learning needs is desirable.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to adapt teaching approaches to meet individual learning needs.
  • Enhanced DBS Certificate registered on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
  • Right to work in the UK.
  • Access to reliable transport and willingness to travel within Wellingborough and surrounding areas.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Experience working within alternative provision settings.
  • SEN training or relevant specialist qualifications.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
