Job description

1:1 Tutor – Northampton

Location: Northampton and surrounding areas
Hours: Flexible, during school hours
Setting: Pupil's home or school setting
Pay: Competitive hourly rate (dependent on experience and qualifications)

About the Role

We are currently seeking experienced and dedicated 1:1 Tutors to support pupils across Northampton in either their home or school setting during school hours.

This role involves delivering personalised tuition to learners who require additional academic support, helping them build confidence, re-engage with learning, and achieve their educational goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality, one-to-one tuition tailored to each pupil's individual needs.
  • Plan and deliver engaging lessons in line with the pupil's learning objectives.
  • Support pupils in core subjects, including English, Maths, and Science, where required.
  • Monitor progress and provide regular feedback and session reports.
  • Adapt teaching approaches to suit different learning styles and abilities.
  • Build positive relationships with pupils, families, schools, and other professionals.

Essential Requirements

  • A minimum of 2 years' teaching experience in a school, tutoring, or educational setting.
  • Strong subject knowledge and excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to engage, motivate, and inspire learners on a one-to-one basis.
  • Experience planning and delivering lessons that meet individual learning needs.
  • Enhanced DBS Certificate registered on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
  • Right to work in the UK.
  • Access to reliable transport and willingness to travel within Northampton and surrounding areas.

Desirable

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), PGCE, or equivalent teaching qualification.
  • Experience working with pupils with SEND, SEMH, or those accessing alternative provision.
  • Experience delivering personalised intervention programmes.
