1:1 Tutor – Northampton Area

Location: Northampton and surrounding areas
Position Type: Part-Time / Flexible / Self-Employed Opportunities Available
Hours: School hours (typically 9:00am–3:00pm)
Pay: Competitive hourly rates dependent on experience and qualifications

Inspire, Support, and Empower Young Learners

We are seeking enthusiastic and dedicated 1:1 Tutors to work with children and young people across Northampton. Tuition will be delivered in pupils' homes, schools, community venues, or alternative education settings during school hours.

This role is ideal for qualified teachers, experienced tutors, teaching assistants, learning mentors, and other education professionals who are passionate about making a positive impact through personalised learning.

Many of the pupils we support may have SEND, SEMH needs, gaps in education, medical needs, or require alternative provision to help them re-engage with learning and achieve their educational goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality, engaging 1:1 tuition sessions tailored to individual pupil needs.
  • Plan and adapt lessons to suit different abilities, learning styles, and educational targets.
  • Build positive relationships that encourage confidence, motivation, and progress.
  • Monitor and record pupil achievement and development.
  • Work collaboratively with schools, parents, carers, and other professionals.
  • Maintain a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment.
  • Follow safeguarding and professional practice standards at all times.

Essential Requirements

  • Experience working with children and young people in an educational or support setting.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to deliver engaging and effective 1:1 learning sessions.
  • Enhanced DBS certificate registered on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one).
  • Right to work in the UK.
  • Access to reliable transport and willingness to travel across Northampton and surrounding areas.

Desirable Qualifications & Experience

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), PGCE, or equivalent qualification.
  • Experience supporting pupils with SEND, ASD, ADHD, SEMH, or EBSA.
  • Previous tutoring, mentoring, intervention, or alternative provision experience.
  • Specialist subject knowledge at Primary, KS3, KS4, or GCSE level.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
