Job description

Make a Real Difference – Become a Maths Tutor in Sunderland

Mathematics is a subject that touches everyone's life. For some, it opens doors to exciting careers and opportunities. For others, it’s a source of frustration and difficulty. We’re looking for tutors who can change that – who can turn uncertainty into confidence and help every learner see that Maths is for them too.

Are you a teacher or tutor with the passion to reshape how young people see Maths? Then this could be the perfect role for you.

We’re currently seeking experienced and enthusiastic Maths Tutors in Sunderland and surrounding areas to support a growing number of students needing academic help. You’ll be expected to bring energy, professionalism, and a strong commitment to safeguarding and student development.

Pay Rate: £25–£30 per hour
(Some students may require sessions at home or local libraries, so a full UK driving licence is desirable.)

 

What We’re Looking For:

  • Strong command of English to communicate clearly with students

  • Based in the UK with a permanent home address

  • A natural motivator with a desire to inspire and support young people

  • Enhanced Child Workforce DBS on the Update Service (or willing to apply—support provided)

  • Experience working with children/young people, especially those with SEND, SEMH or additional needs

  • UK teaching experience is a plus

  • Classroom or 1-to-1 tutoring experience preferred

  • Solid knowledge of the Maths curriculum and relevant exam boards

  • Two professional references covering at least 24 months of your most recent employment (from the last 10 years)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
