 SEND Tutor – North Yorkshire

Are you a patient, empathetic, and experienced educator passionate about inclusive learning? We’re looking for a committed SEND Tutor to work with children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) across North Yorkshire.

About the Role:
As a SEND Tutor, you will provide personalised, one-to-one or small-group support for learners with a range of needs including ASD, ADHD, dyslexia, learning difficulties, SEMH, and speech and language challenges. You’ll play a vital role in building confidence, supporting progress, and fostering a love for learning in a safe and nurturing environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver bespoke, accessible lessons tailored to individual EHCPs and learning plans

  • Adapt teaching methods and materials to suit diverse needs and learning styles

  • Work closely with families, schools, and professionals to ensure consistent support

  • Monitor and report on student progress, adapting strategies as needed

Requirements:

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEND

  • Strong knowledge of SEN strategies and inclusive teaching practices

  • Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one)

  • Excellent communication and behaviour management skills

  • Patient, resilient, and flexible approach to learning support

Desirable:

  • Teaching qualification or relevant SEND training

  • Familiarity with UK education frameworks and EHCP processes

  • Experience delivering interventions such as phonics, numeracy, or social skills

  • Ability to tutor both online and in person

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
