A tutor is required in the NG10 area of Derbyshire, to work 1:1 with a Looked After Child who presents with severe Social, Emotional and Mental Health Difficulties.

The young person is 13 years old and lives in a group residential home. He has ADHD and can present with some challenging behaviour. He does not have a school place currently, therefore we are looking for a tutor to work with him on a 1:1 basis from Monday - Friday for 5 hours per day on an ongoing basis, starting as soon as possible.

The young person does not have a school roll so no work will be provided and the tutor will need to plan and deliver their own resources independently.

The ideal candidate for this role will be:

  • Experienced with Attachment Disorder, Childhood trauma and Social, Emotional and Mental Health Difficulties
  • A qualified Secondary or FE Teacher
  • Any experience working in Alternative Provisions, Inclusion Units or any settings with individuals who have mental health difficulties
  • Resilient and able to put clear, consistent boundaries in for this young person
  • Confident to work with multi-disciplinary staff teams including residential staff, LAC officers, psychologists and social workers
  • Willing to go the extra mile for the young person despite their challenging behaviour and possible disengagement
  • Have an understanding that this young person may not easily trust adults, therefore we require someone who will consistently persevere with his education despite the challenges that may occur

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
