Functional Skills Tutor – Hull (FQT)

Location: Hull
Start: September 2025
Role: Functional Skills (Maths & English)
Level: Fully Qualified Teacher (QTS/QTLS)
Pay: £25–£30 per hour (dependent on experience and assignment)

Are you a Qualified Teacher with a passion for delivering Functional Skills? We’re working with a range of alternative provisions and schools across Hull looking for 1:1 and small group tutors to support learners with Maths and English in a focused, flexible setting.

This is a great opportunity to deliver meaningful, skills-based learning to pupils who may not thrive in a mainstream environment – all while keeping your schedule flexible.

Role Details:

  • Deliver Maths and English Functional Skills (Entry Level to Level 2)

  • Work with learners aged 14–19, often in alternative provision or outreach

  • Assignments typically delivered face-to-face, term time

  • Full planning resources and structure provided

You will need:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS or QTLS)

  • Experience teaching Functional Skills or GCSE Maths/English

  • Confidence working independently with learners who need extra support

  • A DBS on the Update Service (or willing to apply)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
