Tutor

We are seeking a compassionate, adaptable, and resilient Alternative Provision (AP) Tutor to work with children and young people in Hartlepool who are not currently accessing mainstream education. This rewarding role is ideal for someone with a passion for helping young people re-engage with learning in a creative and flexible way.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver tailored sessions in core subjects (e.g. English, Maths, PSHE)

• Plan and adapt lessons to suit individual learning needs and EHCP targets

• Work one-to-one or with small groups, in various settings including the home, community spaces, or designated AP centres

• Develop strong, supportive relationships with pupils, families, and external agencies

• Monitor and record progress, behaviour, and wellbeing, contributing to reports and reviews

• Manage challenging behaviour calmly and consistently, using trauma-informed approaches

Essential Requirements:

• Experience working with vulnerable or disengaged learners 

• Strong behaviour management and communication skills

• Creative, patient, and committed to making a positive difference

• Willingness to travel locally within Hartlepool

• Safeguarding knowledge and willingness to undergo an enhanced DBS check

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
