TP Tutors is looking to recruit passionate and reliable Education Tutors to deliver personalised one-to-one teaching to children and young people across Corby and neighbouring communities.

We are keen to hear from experienced educators who can identify individual learning needs, deliver engaging lessons and help pupils make progress academically and personally.

The role involves supporting learners who require additional tuition, have missed periods of education, need help with GCSE preparation or benefit from a more personalised approach to learning outside a mainstream school environment.

Teaching sessions may take place at pupils' homes, schools or alternative education provisions.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

As a 1:1 Education Tutor, you will:

  • Plan and deliver tailored lessons that reflect each pupil's abilities and learning objectives.
  • Help students develop their knowledge and improve their performance in relevant subjects.
  • Encourage positive learning behaviours, independence and self-confidence.
  • Prepare appropriate teaching resources, exercises and lesson activities.
  • Monitor individual progress and maintain clear records of learning outcomes.
  • Recognise learning barriers and adjust teaching strategies to suit individual requirements.
  • Provide educational assistance to pupils with SEND and behavioural needs.
  • Build effective working relationships with parents, schools and external professionals.
  • Maintain high safeguarding standards and promote pupil safety and wellbeing.

  • Secondary English, Mathematics and Science.
  • GCSE subjects and exam preparation.
  • Functional Skills, Literacy and Numeracy.
  • History, Geography and Humanities.
  • Computing and Modern Foreign Languages.
  • Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
  • Home Education and Alternative Provision.

Essential Criteria

Applicants should have:

  • At least two years of teaching or tutoring experience within the UK.
  • Previous experience working with primary or secondary-aged learners.
  • The confidence to plan and deliver structured, effective lessons.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills.
  • A patient, adaptable approach to different learning abilities.
  • Access to transport or the ability to travel to placements throughout Corby and nearby locations.
  • An Enhanced DBS registered with the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.

QTS, PGCE or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification is desirable, although not essential.

SEND Experience

We particularly welcome applications from tutors with experience supporting children with:

  • Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC).
  • Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD).
  • Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
  • Dyslexia and dyspraxia.
  • Speech, language and communication needs.
  • Emotionally Based School Non-Attendance (EBSNA).
