A Secondary School in Hackney are looking for a Construction (Technology) Tutor to start in September 2021 on a long-term (intially one year) contract to provide support to vulnerable young adults. The school are looking for someone with experience of teaching and delivering results within Construction or within an applicable Technology subject or experience of working within the Construction/ Technology Industry. They are requiring a Teaching Qualification; PTLLS, DTLLS, CTLLS, PCGE or Construction or Technology related higher qualification.
Principal responsibilities:
- Maintain a safe learning environment and providing students with academic and pastoral support to help them achieve their goals.
- Produce documentation and data that reflects the needs of students within individual EHCP within Construction Groups
- Plan and prepare structured and engaging, written and practical lessons differentiated for learners in each group following the chosen Open Awards Construction specifications or future Technology based specifications that the candidate would like to bring to the school.
- Support the production of new schemes of work and marking criteria for the new Yr10/Yr11 curriculum for 2021-23, as required
- Produce new documentation for any new Technology courses and the tracker to be used by the admissions team.
- Plan and prepare structured and engaging written and practical lessons differentiated for learners in each group following the specifications.
- Keep records of Learner performance, monitor, assess and mark Learners’ coursework
- Plan additional support for Learners (You may have in-class support)
- Research and develop new topics and teaching materials within the available Construction disciplines: Painting and decorating, Carpentry, Plumbing, Plastering and Dry-Lining. Having a specialism in one or more of the disciplines listed is desirable
Knowledge of:
- Appropriate teaching strategies
- Classroom management techniques to correct behaviour
- Evaluation and assessment techniques of vocational courses
