Nearly all students attending our client school are permanently excluded from their mainstream schools, or are at risk of being permanently excluded. Students can be admitted at any time meaning numbers at the school fluctuate considerably. Most students are in KS3 with boys out numbering girls; relatively few students have a statement of special educational needs.
The pupils all have SEMH difficulties and the majority of pupils are very challenging.

*To assist in resolving any behavioural, social and emotional difficulties which may arise.
*To encourage the pupil to develop a positive self image, and to develop confidence in their abilities and communication with others.
SEN Teaching Assistant - Requirements
For this school, it is not essential to have worked in a school previously however working with secondary aged children in some capacity is preferred. The type of person who usually gets on well in this type of environment usually comes from one of the following backgrounds: care services, prisons, youth workers, sports coaching and psychology. You need to be very resilient and not effected by foul and abusive language and behaviour.
