Teaching Assistant with Forest School Experience – Secondary School – Tameside

Location: Tameside, Greater Manchester
Contract: Full-time, Temporary with opportunity to progress
Start Date: Immediate / September 2025 (flexible)
Salary: Competitive hourly rate, paid weekly via PAYE

Teaching Personnel are supporting a forward-thinking secondary school in Tameside to recruit a passionate Teaching Assistant to join their team. This unique role includes supporting students in the classroom and delivering Forest School activities 2–3 days a week, with an exciting opportunity to progress into the school’s newly developing Pupil Referral Unit (PRU).

Role Overview:

  • Provide in-class support to students, helping them access the curriculum and develop positive learning behaviours.

  • Deliver Forest School sessions 2–3 days a week, supporting outdoor learning, student wellbeing, and engagement.

  • Assist with behaviour management and support students with additional needs.

  • Work closely with teaching staff and SENCO to support targeted students.

  • Help supervise students during break and lunch times.

  • Play an active role in the development and transition to the new PRU, with potential opportunities for career progression within this provision.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant or similar role in education.

  • Experience or qualification in Forest School or outdoor learning highly desirable.

  • Passionate about supporting vulnerable students and those with additional needs.

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.

  • Willingness to undertake training relevant to the PRU and Forest School.

  • Enhanced DBS clearance or willingness to apply.

  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting student welfare.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
