Behaviour Support Assistant – SEMH Focus – Tameside
Location: Tameside
Contract: Full-time, Monday to Friday, term time only
Start Date: September 2025 (earlier start available for the right candidate)
Pay: £89 – £100 per day (depending on experience)
We are seeking a committed Behaviour Support Assistant to join a Tameside secondary school, supporting pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. This is a rewarding role for someone passionate about improving engagement, behaviour, and wellbeing for young people who may face barriers to learning.
Key Responsibilities:

Support identified pupils in lessons, helping them to remain focused and engaged in learning.

Implement behaviour management strategies in line with the school’s policies and individual behaviour plans.

Deliver 1:1 and small group interventions to develop social skills, resilience, and emotional regulation.

Collaborate with the SENCO, pastoral team, and teaching staff to monitor progress and provide feedback.

Build positive, trusting relationships to encourage student confidence and motivation.
Requirements:

Experience supporting young people with SEMH needs, either in education, youth work, or a care setting.

Understanding of safeguarding and child protection.
-
Resilience, patience, and strong interpersonal skills.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
