A special school in Bradford is seeking a Teaching Assistant to join their team on a part-time basis this September.

You will be required to work on a casual, part-time basis for up to 3 days per week; supporting pupils aged 3-19 with a range of Special Educational Needs.

Our client offers education for children and young people with a range of learning difficulties. All pupils have Education, Health and Care Plans to support with their learning needs, which include Sensory, Physical and/or Medical needs as well as pupils with Autism and Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs. The school currently has 110 pupils on roll, aged between 3 and 19 years.

All staff work collaboratively with parents and professionals and the school offers a high staff to pupil ratio so that small group and individual work can take place.

The school are looking to appoint a Casual Teaching Assistant who will be available for up to 3 days a week during term time who is able to support across school, working with young people with a range of needs.

The successful applicant will support specialist teachers in the delivery of an alternative, inclusive curriculum which is structured to meet the specific needs of pupils. You will be required to work closely with Speech Therapists, Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists and medical staff to implement a bespoke programme of interventions for key pupils. You ma also be required to liaise with parents/carers, Social Workers and/or Mental Health teams to support the holistic needs of pupils.

As a Special Needs Teaching Assistant, you will be required to:

  • Effectively monitor, assess and evaluate pupil outcomes (in line with EHCP)
  • Communicate effectively with a multi-disciplinary team
  • Provide a secure, stimulating and nurturing environment that encourages holistic learning
  • Encourage independence and positive social interaction
  • Promote an inclusive approach across all aspects of school and community life
