Teaching Assistant – Independent Specialist School
Location: Dibden, Southampton
Position: Full-Time, Term Time Only
Hourly Rate: £13.75
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join a well-established independent specialist school in Dibden, Southampton. This school supports pupils aged 8 to 16 with a range of complex needs, including Social, Emotional and Mental Health Difficulties (SEMH).
The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the delivery of high-quality, inclusive education within a nurturing and structured learning environment. This role is ideally suited to individuals who are committed to improving outcomes for vulnerable young people and who thrive in a dynamic and sometimes challenging setting.
Key Responsibilities:

Supporting pupils’ academic and personal development under the guidance of the class teacher and wider school team

Promoting positive behaviour and emotional regulation in line with the school’s ethos

Working on a one-to-one or small group basis with pupils, tailoring support to individual needs

Assisting with the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and therapeutic interventions
-
Maintaining a safe, engaging, and respectful learning environment for all pupils
Candidate Requirements:

A genuine interest in supporting children and young people with additional and complex needs

A calm, patient and consistent approach, with a strong sense of empathy

The ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team

Previous experience in an SEN/SEMH setting is advantageous, though not essential

Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
