Job Title: Teaching Assistant – SEMH Secondary School (Term Time Only)
Location: Basingstoke
Salary: £13.75 per hour
Contract: Term Time Only (Approx. 39 weeks per year) | Full-Time

The pupils present with a wide range of needs across the behaviour and autism spectrum, and they are committed to offering tailored support that enables every learner to thrive.

The Role
Teaching Personnel are seeking to appoint a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join their committed team. This is a rewarding opportunity to support the learning and emotional development of pupils with complex needs in a structured, nurturing, and inclusive environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide in-class support to pupils across a range of subjects and ability levels
  • Assist in the delivery of personalised learning programmes and targeted interventions
  • Promote positive behaviour, emotional regulation, and engagement with learning
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, support staff, and external professionals
  • Help maintain a safe and supportive school environment

Person Specification
The successful candidate will ideally have:

  • Experience working with children or young people, preferably in an SEMH or SEN setting (desirable)
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • A patient, empathetic, and resilient approach to supporting students
  • A genuine commitment to the wellbeing and educational progress of young people

Hours & Pay

  • £13.75 per hour
  • Full-time, term time only (Monday to Friday but option to work the days suited to you)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
